Single-cell Bacteria
Bacteria live everywhere in the world around us: in the soil, on plant roots, on our skin, and in our digestive system. They can be incredibly helpful - metabolizing nutrients or helping to control pathogens - but they can also become harmful. Bacterial infections and antimicrobial resistance are a leading threat to society. Studying bacteria at the single-cell level is crucially important to understand how they function, interact, and how we can control both beneficial and pathogenic species.
